The inspection witnessed DID NOT PASS. The test line broke at about 1182T instead of at least the estimated MBL 1764T. The roll thimble bolts broke also during the last testing phase of “Load to break” at 1182T.
It is uncertain what caused the rope to break at 1182T and not at 1764T. OTS, APL, DNV DL will have to investigate it. But the immediate guess was that it might have been caused by the thimble bolts breakage or that the designer did not considered the flattening of the rope. OTS awaits the report of DNV DL to make certain the cause of the earlier breakage.
